*Setup new server and troubleshoot network connectivity issues in office 7-18-2025:

  • Original Server Dell PowerEdge T330 ST 1SXT7MS: Server running Windows Server 2016 Standard. Device was moved by work staff and connections had been changed since the last time All Computer and Electronic Servicing was in the office. Documented all settings including IP address/network settings, server roles, OS, users, shared folders, domain configuration, and all other relevant information for transfer to new server.
  • New Server Dell PowerEdge T360 ST 9C5KWB4: Server running Windows Server 2025 Essentials.
    1. Powered up new server, installed necessary roles, connected to internet, ensured all devices working.
      1. With server connected directly to comcast modem with no firewall, network connectivity issue was fixed in entire office. All phones worked, all computers in office (upstairs and downstairs) were able to access internet, file sharing worked and was accessible, however remote access to MEI still not working as system may require firewall for remote access. It is recommended to leave this server in this state if possible but MEI may have to be involved to ensure proper configuration
    2. Changed server configuration to Domain controller, mirrored all settings from older server including computer name, domain name, roles, sharing folders, etc. Sharing folders were accessible from other workstations but other workstations were not able to access internet. Additional troubleshooting required. Client stated that work for the day was to be concluded at 9:00 PM EST on 7-18-2025 so All Computer and Electronic Servicing left the machines “AS IS” at client’s request.

*All workstations tested are running Windows 7 OS. There are compatibility concerns about the workstations being able to connect to the network on Windows Server 2025. Additional troubleshooting required on workstations.

*All workstations in office are running outdated versions of Microsoft Windows. It is recommended that all computers in the office be updated to machines that can run Windows 11 immediately.

*Client stated that work for the day could not start until after 2:30 PM and was to be concluded at 9:00 PM EST on 7-18-2025 so All Computer and Electronic Servicing left the machines “AS IS” at client’s request.

*Additional on-site work is required. 1 to 2 days still needed (estimated).

*Attempts to involve Dell to have them remote into the server were made but not completed. It is recommended to have Dell assist with the network configuration to expedite the process.

*Attempts to involve MEI were made but unsuccessful. It is recommended to have MEI involved to ensure any necessary configuration settings are known and implemented.

*5 hours of on-site work completed 7-18-2025 @ $200.00 per hour, $1,000.00 amount due (3:45 PM to 9:05 PM 7-18-2025 on-site work completed, 5 hours working at location, waive charges for contacting Dell and MEI while waiting for new server to arrive, travel, and no charge for hours exceeding 5 for the day). Amount due $1,000.00.
